Jacqueline Marino joined the journalism faculty in Fall 2006 after spending 12 years writing for newspapers and magazines. After graduating from Kent State in 1994, she worked for two newsweeklies before earning a master’s degree in nonfiction writing from Johns Hopkins University in 2002.

She has written nonfiction stories and essays for Cleveland Magazine, The Christian Science Monitor, The Plain Dealer, and the literary journal River Teeth, among other publications. Accolades include numerous awards from the Cleveland Press Club and the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists.

One of her stories was featured as a “notable narrative” on the Nieman Narrative Digest Web site in 2006.

In addition to her freelance work, which includes a four-year immersive journalism project on medical students at the Case Western Reserve School of Medicine, she researches the narrative form and online-only publications featuring feature, in-depth and investigative journalism.
