David Walter Banks is a commercial and editorial photographer based in Atlanta and specializing in portraiture, documentary and conceptual photography. David has a degree from University of Georgia and a background in newspaper photojournalism.  David's clients include The New York Times, Stern Magazine, Forbes Magazine, Spin, Fader Magazine, Golf Digest, Interscope Records, Bloomberg News, Atlanta Magazine, and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution among others.
First Place: Man praying by Rami Daud. I chose this image as first place because it felt a little more intimate and personal than the other images to me. The photographer got access to the home and whether this is a portrait or documentary photograph, it feels like a nice personal moment to me. I do wish the photographer had shared more information in the caption as I am left wondering.

Second Place: Angels by Lindsay Semple. This image does a nice job of transcending the event to make a graphic and magical photograph. It also has nice layers as you go further into the image. However, if the photographer was going to make a graphic image like this and leave out the event's surroundings I would have liked to see it taken a step further. If the trees were eliminated from the image then the graphic qualities would be stronger and the layers more evident in my humble opinion.
Third Place: Open field by Greg Ruffing. This image has a certain poetry in the strong lines and connotations of the path less traveled leading off to nowhere. This image would have placed higher for me if there were some human element for me - I'm just a sucker for people pictures. Although it has just enough suggestion to work for me.
