What is NOSPA?

The Northeast Ohio Scholastic Press Association (NOSPA) is almost as old as Kent's School of Journalism and Mass Communication, its home for more than 60 years. Since 1938, high school students and their advisers have been meeting on the Kent campus for an annual Press Day. The next event is scheduled for Wednesday, April 25, 2007, beginning with Early Bird sessions at 8:30 a.m. and ending with an awards ceremony that concludes at 2 p.m.

Membership in NOSPA is $60 per year. The benefits of membership include: entry in all contests (overall publication critique, more than 30 individual categories and Day-of competition); a website with teaching tips, story ideas and information about scholastic media workshops and opportunities; and other useful mailings.

NOSPA's Executive Council is made up of students who apply in the spring and work on Press Day sessions during their senior year in high school.
